Girl molested in Narol, fifth case in 10 days
AHMEDABAD: A nine-year-old resident of Narol, was molested on Wednesday night, allegedly by Lalit Rathod (30), who lives in the same area. While police have arrested the accused, the offence is becoming a matter of concern as this is the fifth incident a sexual offence against a child in the last 10 days.
According to the complaint lodged by the girl’s parents, Rathod kidnapped the girl at about 10pm on Wednesday and took her to his room.
“While he was undressing the girl, the parents, who were looking for her, knocked at his door. A local told them that Rathod was seen walking away with the girl. They caught the accused and handed him over to us,” said a police officer.
In the recent incidents, a three-year-old girl was raped on November 21 by her neighbour. On Saturday last, a 65-year-old man, Dilip Rajput, was arrested by Amraiwadi police penetrating a four-year-old girl with his fingers.
The same day, a man named Mukesh Thakor was nabbed by Naroda police for sexually violating a five-year-old girl, living in the same area. On Friday, a nine-year-old boy was sodomised by two 14-year-old teenagers.
Senior police officials said with crime against children going up, they are planning awareness programmes for children to make them aware of good touch and bad touch. “We will be roping in a few experts for the awareness programmes,” added a senior police official.
