GIFT City ranks 46th in Global Financial Centres Index

Ahmedabad: GIFT City has been ranked 46th in the Global Financial Centres Index (GFCI). This marks its first entry into the top 50 global financial centres, improving from its previous 52nd position.The GFCI, published biannually by Z/Yen and the City of London since 2007, evaluates the competitiveness of financial centres worldwide. The recent 37th edition of the index highlights GIFT City's growing prominence.Dipesh Shah, executive director of the IFSC Authority, noted: "GIFT IFSC has entered the Top 50 financial centres globally. Out of 119 centres mapped, GIFT now figures very prominently. It is also ranked fifth out of 15 centres expected to gain significance in the next two years. Notably, GIFT IFSC ranks No. 1 on the Reputation Index among these 15 centres."Officials attribute this improvement to regulatory amendments and enhanced ease of doing business facilitated by the IFSC Authority, which has boosted confidence among fintech companies. Govt initiatives at the central and state levels have contributed to making the IFSC globally competitive."The ease of doing business in GIFT IFSC is driving increased participation and growth. This ranking will further enhance GIFT IFSC's global reputation and attract more international institutions," Shah added.
