Ahmedabad: The executive committee meeting of Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry (

GCCI

) held on Monday to announce the election schedule had members opposing the proposal to hold the poll in July.
For years, the GCCI election has been held in June but this year it was planned for July. The executive committee meeting did not approve the schedule.
According to sources, GCCI president

Hemant Shah

proposed to hold the election on July 23 but senior members including

Trilok Parikh

, Hiten Vasant,

Jainik Vakil

, and

Madanlal Jayswal

opposed this and demanded an early election.
These members argued that the election should not be held during monsoon. Generally, a new team takes charge at GCCI before the end of June every year.
Finally, it was decided that the office-bearers will meet GCCI election officer Hasmukh Hingu in a day or two and finalize new dates for the election.
