'Gaurakshaks' attack staffers at Gujarat goat breeding centre

AHMEDABAD: An animal husbandry officer and staff of a goat breeding centre in Mota Jampura village of Gujarat's Banaskantha were allegedly attacked by 3 'cow vigilantes' Friday after they accused the officials of cow slaughter.Dr Vaja Patel, of Lelava village in Dhanera taluka, filed a complaint stating that around 20 people stormed into his office and threatened him and the staff, alleging that they have been "slaughtering cows and selling their bones". Patel claimed the accused used caste-based slurs against Shankar Parmar, an SC staffer.As per the FIR, three men, Mansingh Chaudhary, Raju Panchal, and Babar Panchal, assaulted Patel and the staff.The FIR says Patel, along with staffers Shailesh Chaudhary and Badaji Thakor, were dragged from their office and confined in a mini-truck for 4 hours. Police charged the accused under various sections of BNS, including rioting.
