Gas leak causes panic in Gomtipur

Ahmedabad: A gas leak at an ice factory in Gomtipur led to panic in the area on Thursday afternoon. Fire personnel rushed to the factory wearing gas masks. However, no one was trapped inside the facility.
“It was an ammonia leak,” said a personnel who had emerged from the building. Residents complained that it was not the first time that a gas leak had occurred.“Residents have been complaining of ammonia gas release between 12am to 5am during weekdays and that their sleep gets disturbed because of the gas,” said Gomtipur councillor Iqbal Sheikh. The Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services has issued a show-cause notice to the owner.
