Ganesh immersion today in Ahmedabad

Three Road Stretches Marked For Immersion Processions, Trucks
AHMEDABAD: Thursday would mark the end of Ganesh Chaturthi festival and citizens would bid farewell to Lord Ganesha amid pomp and festivities. The city administration has geared up for the mega event and have earmarked zones for immersion to prevent any untoward incident from taking place.

Taking into account the traffic flow for immersion, city police have closed three road stretches. According to the notification, vehicular traffic apart from trucks carrying idols would be barred from

to Paldi, Geeta Mandir to Kalupur railway station and Kalupur railway station to Town Hall from 2 pm on Thursday. Alternative routes have been earmarked for the commuters, said traffic police officials.

"We have formed 24 teams to be stationed at immersion spots including Sabarmati Riverfront, various bridges, lakes and ponds," said Rajesh Bhatt, additional chief fire officer, Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES). "Right from morning to night, over 175 officers and firemen would be on duty. We appeal to citizens to immerse idols only at designated spots, so that accidents can be averted,"

Bhatt

added Cranes have been installed at Ellisbridge for immersion of big idols. The immersion would continue till late night, said officials.
