AHMEDABAD: A 33-year-old man from Isanpur, who runs a spa near Darpan Circle in Navrangpura, on Friday filed a police complaint alleging that three men, posing as a police officer and journalists, extorted Rs 10,500 from him. They threatened him with a criminal case and adverse publicity.

In his FIR, Rajesh Nagar said that a woman working at his spa called him on Thursday afternoon and said that three men had come to the spa and were demanding money.

Nagar rushed to the spa where a man named Brijesh Patel introduced himself as a police officer. Two others, Jayesh Thakor and Shubh Shah, told Nagar they were mediapersons.

Nagar alleged that they demanded Rs 50,000, accusing him of carrying out illegal activities under the pretext of running a spa. They told Nagar he would be booked in a criminal case and exposed in the media.

Scared, Nagar paid them Rs 10,500, but as he had doubts, he asked for their identity cards. Instead of producing their identity cards, they fled, the FIR states.
