AHMEDABAD: A week long picture and multi-media exhibition on the life and times of Mahatma Gandhi was launched at Dandi Kutir in Gandhinagar on Tuesday. Interestingly, a large portion of the exhibition had displays dedicated to various policies and welfare programmes launched by the NDA led government at the centre and the BJP led government in the state. A senior official of the state youth and culture department official claimed that most of the government programmes on display are inspired by Bapu’s ideas. From police modernisation, state skill development, Ayushman bharat health insurance, employment, Man ki Baat radio programme, schemes for upliftment of depressed classes are among those that were on display.

A smalls section was dedicated to Bapu’s birth, his life in London, south Africa and the freedom movement in India. Not all prominent leaders that fought alongside Bapu’s freedom movement were included in the exhibition. Rupani said, “Under the NDA rule we have ventured towards implementing successful programmes on cleanliness, social welfare and development. These are constructive programmes, like those envisioned by Bapu.”
