AHMEDABAD: Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDI) will celebrate its silver jubilee on Saturday. On this occasion, the institute will release a book and screen a film encapsulating its 25 years.
EDI started as a centre which selected, trained and developed first generation entrepreneurs in Gujarat in 1983. Over the last two decades, it has created six specialised centres dealing with various aspects of entrepreneurship development, including entrepreneurship education and research, micro enterprises, micro finance and sustainable livelihood, small medium enterprise and business development, among others.
Senior manager, business development cell, EDI said, The institute has equipped thousands of students with entrepreneurial skills. As many as 12 state-level entrepreneurship development centres and institutes have been set up in the country over time." Taking a global step, EDI set up four centres in Cambodia, Lao, Myanmar and Vietnam.
