AHMEDABAD: City crime branch on Tuesday arrested a man from Kalol in Gandhinagar district for his alleged involvement in the Dingucha case. Sources in the city crime branch said the accused, identified as Dashrath Chaudhary, who is from Mansa, was working for a human smuggler named Yogesh Patel, who is from Vastrapur in Ahmedabad city.

City crime branch on January 14 arrested Yogesh Patel and Bhavesh Patel from Palsana near Kalol for their alleged involvement in sending four people from Dingucha to Canada on forged documents.

The four persons - Jagdish Patel, his wife Vaishali and their children Vihangi and Dharmik - froze to death while crossing the Canada-US border on January 19, 2022. "Dashrath was working for Yogesh and had helped many people including the Patel family from Dingucha village to get documents for their US journey," said a police officer. City crime branch produced him in a local court. He was sent to police custody till January 22.
