AHMEDABAD: After having done the far-east, Africa and Europe, Amdavadis have taken a fancy for the flights offered in the home of the flightless bird, the kiwi.
New Zealand, which has a sizeable population of Gujaratis, has impressed travellers here as a place for adventure tourism, and the best known globetrotters are now seen doing chopper rides, bungee jumping, paragliding and so on.
Pankaj and Khushboo Motani were looking for a long vacation after their wedding, and NZ offered them scenic beauty captured from heights and flights.
The Motanis are not alone, the flavour of the season seems to be a touch of adventure, even for honeymooners so it has been destination the island country of NZ.
City-based businessman, Nehal Shah, who visited New Zealand with friends and family said, "I had gone there on a singular mission -- Sky diving! A leap from 9000 feet, a 50 second-long free fall till 3000 feet, a jerk from the opening of the parachute and a five minutes of glide to the ground. It could be a matter of a few seconds, but is excitement for a life time".
Dr Tushar Shah, a city based doctor who recently returned from a 17-day self-driven trip of the country said, "New Zealand seems to be a perfect combination of all that nature has to offer. Be it snow covered mountains, sunny beaches, volcanoes, valleys, water falls, glaciers, meadows and much more. What my family and I enjoyed the most in our tour was the helicopter ride and watching the 32-feet long whales live in their natural habitat from a height of 500 feet".
