Depressed by husband's death, BJP worker hangs self

AHMEDABAD: A 50-year-old woman from Motera took her life on Thursday by hanging herself. The woman, identified as Pinal Shah, had been suffering from depression since her husband's death around six months ago, said police. In charge inspector of Chandkheda B D Gohil said that Shah, a resident of Nirmalkala Society, was a BJP worker who lived with her two daughters.

Mansi, her 22-year-old daughter who works with a private firm, noticed that her mother had yet to leave her room even though it was past noon on Thursday. She knocked on the door but received no response. She gathered other people and broke open the door only to find her mother hanging.

Chandkheda police were informed about the incident, and an investigation into the suicide has been initiated. Pinal's husband, Chetan, passed away in May, after which she fell into depression and was undergoing medication, according to Gohil.
