Cyclone Biparjoy has moved east-northeastwards and is centered 30km from Bhuj in Gujarat. By evening, it will convert into a deep depression over Saurashtra and Kutch and adjoining areas with 50-60kmph gusting to 70kmph.
A number of trees have fallen in Mandvi. The wind speed is really high today, and it may cause more damage. One team of the Fire department is engaged in road clearance operation here.
SCS Biparjoy at 0530IST of today over Saurashtra & Kutch, lat 23.6N & long 69.2E, about 70km ENE of Jakhau Port (Gujarat), 50km NE of Naliya. Likely to weaken gradually into a CS over Saurashtra & Kutch around noon and subsequently into a DD around evening of 16th June.
The cyclone, which brought rain to almost all states on the west coast of India, is likely to produce heavy to very heavy rainfall in Gujarat and Rajasthan for the next two days after landfall. The cyclone is likely to continue moving towards Rajasthan, the IMD projects.
