<div class="section0"><div class="Normal"><span style="" font-size:="">AHMEDABAD: The Gujarat High Court on Tuesday granted bail to Hafiz Mohammad Tahir, an alleged Lashkar-e-Toiba operative who had come from Moradabad allegedly to kill Chief Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders like Pravin Togadia in 2002.</span><br /><br /><span style="" font-size:="">Tahir was arrested by the crime branch on December 12, 2002 in Delhi and was booked under Section 121 of the IPC (waging war against the nation).</span><br /><br /><span style="" font-size:="">Tahir was accused of coming to Ahmedabad to recruit Muslim children from the refugee camps in the city and “train� them in Moradabad.
The crime branch had filed a chargesheet on March 11, 2003.</span><br /><br /><span style="" font-size:="">Justice A L Dave granted bail to Tahir against a surety of Rs 25,000. The court granted the bail on the condition that he should not leave Ahmedabad and provide his local address to the investigating agency.</span><br /><br /><span style="" font-size:="">Defence counsel Hashim Qureshi submitted before the court that the entire case was based on presumptions. Qureshi said that there was no circumstantial evidence against the accused and that he was in the city to rope in children for educational purpose. Besides, it was submitted that not a single child was taken from the city.</span></div> </div>
