AHMEDABAD: Even twenty-four hours after the Kankaria tragedy, police are

yet to identify

the safety auditor

who issued

a monthly safety-fitness certificate on July 6 to Discovery, the ride that crashed on Sunday.


In-charge ACP Jagdish Chavda said that the probe is under way. “The person or agency who issued the

fitness certificate

will be summoned for questioning,” Chavda said.

Chavda said that among the arrested are the owner of Superstar Amusement Pvt Ltd, Ghanshyam Patel, his son Bhavesh Patel, manager Tushar Choksi, ride operators Yash Patel and Kishan Mahanti, and helper Manish Vaghela.

“All the accused have been arrested under section 304 of the IPC — that is culpable homicide not amounting to murder,” Chavda said. “We will produce the accused in court on Tuesday and seek custodial interrogation.” On Monday, a team of forensic experts visited the accident site. “The experts have taken the part of the ride which had collapsed and other parts for analysis,” Chavda said.
