Koli's family members have lodged a complaint at the Satellite police station against the Skoda driver. Cops are yet to record statements of the Patel couple. "Koli's car has hit the Skoda, as its left side bears a deep dent while the Maruti is mangled from the front. We do not rule out the possibility of one or both the drivers may have been drunk," said police officials of Satellite investigating the case.
But, even after two days, Satellite police is yet unable to decide, what caused the accident. "At the moment, we have not arrested anybody. We are first taking help of experts to decide what exactly happened," said JJ Patel, inspector of Satellite police station.
Not wearing seat belt could have led to grave injuries:
When TOI asked the orthopaedic surgeons about the reason of nature of injuries suffered by the drivers of the cars, they were of opinion that such injuries are observed when the drivers, who are in great speed, suddenly try to control the car and in that action, suffer a head-on collison with the dashboard.
"If you don't wear seat belts, the body cannot sustain the thrust at the time of collision. Unfortunately the youngsters who get thrill in the speed on the open roads in the night, are prone to severe orthopaedic injuries. If proper care is taken while driving, such gruesome incidents could be prevented," said Dr Bharat Patel, an orthopaedic surgeon from the city.
