Cop hurt as mob storms Danilimda PS

Ahmedabad: A communally sensitive flare-up in the wee hours of Sunday left a policeman injured after a mob allegedly chased and attacked a man who was brought to Danilimda police station for safety.According to DCP zone-6, Bhagirathsinh Gadhvi, the incident began around 12.25am when four members of a family, including a 17-year-old girl, travelled on two scooters from Kagdapith towards Behrampura. A biker allegedly collided with one of their scooters, triggering a verbal altercation.
As the matter escalated, the family left the spot and alerted members of their community nearby. A group then allegedly intercepted the biker and began assaulting him.A traffic cop who noticed the commotion intervened and rescued the man, escorting him to Danilimda police station. However, some members of the mob allegedly followed them and pelted stones, injuring the youth and causing minor injuries to a policeman. Additional police force was rushed to the spot to disperse the crowd, Gadhvi said.Three FIRs were registered. One complaint was filed with Kagdapith police by the family, alleging sexual harassment and hurting of religious sentiments against the biker. Another FIR was filed against him by a cop. At Danilimda police station, an FIR was lodged against seven persons for attempt to murder and assault on a public servant. Four accused were arrested, police said.
