Contractor molests 19-year-old labourer in Chandkheda

Ahmedabad: A 19-year-old casual labourer from Dungarpur in Rajasthan has accused her contractor of molesting her at a construction site in Chandkheda.
The woman, a first year BSc student at a university in Rajasthan, filed a complaint with the police on Monday.
She told the police, “I keep coming to Ahmedabad with my parents or brothers. We work as casual labourers to earn a livelihood. I accompanied my three elder brothers and two relatives this time, and we rented a house in Chandkheda.”
On Monday morning, the complainant and her brother went to a labour market in Chandkheda to find work. “Umesh Parmar approached us and hired us to work at a water-tank construction site on New CG Road. While we were working, Parmar told me he needed help lifting sacks of cement. He took me to the bathroom of a public garden and pushed me in. Then, he stepped in, locked the door, and molested me,” she alleged.
She added, “When I began screaming for help, Parmar threatened to kill my family and me. My brother heard my screams and came running. He banged on the door repeatedly, and Parmar opened the door, pushing my brother aside before fleeing.”
The woman told her brother what happened and then filed a complaint of molestation and criminal intimidation against Parmar.
