AHMEDABAD: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) appealed to citizens on Thursday to not approach community health centres (CHCs) and primary health centres (PHCs) to get eyedrops if they don't have symptoms of conjunctivitis.
"The number of outpatients on Thursday was 2,500, double the figure from two days ago. We realized that not all those approaching us had symptoms.
Many were just apprehensive. This was causing a shortage of drops for actual patients," said a senior official.
In the past week, the city has had over 10,000 conjunctivitis cases, according to official estimates. Officials at government and private facilities said there has been a major increase in the number of patients with high infectivity witnessed.
