Cutting across party lines, the state Congress has decided to extend full support to the BJP-led government in the state in the Swarnim Gujarat celebrations to mark 50 years of foundation of the state.

AHMEDABAD: Cutting across party lines, the state Congress has decided to extend full support to the BJP-led government in the state in the Swarnim Gujarat celebrations to mark 50 years of foundation of the state.
Talking to mediapersons, the leader of Opposition Shaktisinh Gohil and Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Siddharth Patel, said that Gujarat is a progressive state and the party has decided to support the BJP as it was to felicitate the achievement of the Gujaratis over the past 50 years.

The duo also cautioned the BJP and Chief Minister Narendra Modi not to highlight only Modi and his government. Gohil said the celebration should be taking a common man and a Gujarati together and not just confined to a BJP party workers celebrations.
He called upon the BJP and Modi to have this as a celebration of the state and not just BJP. They were critical about the ruling party not taking into consideration the suggestion of the Opposition while passing the important bills on Prohibition and even the women reservation in the local self governments.
