City mill to give Rs 20 cr to its jobless workers

AHMEDABAD: Of Rs 61 crore that the liquidator of New Gujarat Synthetics Mill Ltd will get, over Rs 20 crore will go towards dues of some 5,032 workmen who became jobless after the mill closed down. The high court has fixed Rs 29 crore to be paid to workers, out of which an amount of Rs 8.2 crore has been disbursed among them.
Ghanshyam Patel, a partner in Sayona Land corporation said, "We are planning to construct commercial complexes on the front side and residential colonies on the back side of the plot.In next seven days we have to pay 25 percent amount and rest would be paid in 90 days period. Only after complete payment we would be able to initiate the project subject to possession of land."
