Ahmedabad: Swimmer Venika Parikh has won two gold medals at the ongoing 67th National School Games in Delhi.
Ahmedabad girl Venika set the pool ablaze by winning the 100m women’s breaststroke in 1 minute and 14.99 seconds. She continued her winning streak in the 200m women’s breaststroke, claiming another gold by posting a timing of 2 minutes and 43.04 seconds.
Venika’s final event at the School Games is the 50m women’s breaststroke, scheduled for Tuesday.
In the National School Games last year too, Venika had won three gold medals in individual events and contributed to the team’s success with a silver and a bronze in relay events.
Notably, she was the sole girl from Gujarat to clinch a gold in the School Games’ swimming events and was the top individual performer from Gujarat across all games. Gujarat had stood sixth in the national tally last year.
Police Academy crowned 2nd Division champs, Enfield Town win 3rd Division: Police Academy were crowned the champions of Cantonment FC Ahmedabad District Football Association (ADFA) 2nd Division League 2023-24. Police Academy defeated Sharp Shooters FC (B) 3-0 courtesy goals from Kavya Chauhan (34), Chirag Dabhi (60) and Nikunj Deshmukh (69). Meanwhile, Enfield Town FC were crowned the ADFA 3rd Division League champions. In the final, Enfield Town defeated IIM Boys 5-0. Dhaval Rana and Vijay Kori scored own goals in the 12th minute and 36th minute respectively. Lokesh Rawal (35), Priyesh Kumar (64) and Diyanshu Vaghela (70) were the others who found the back of the net.
