Ahmedabad: CIIE launches affordable housing sector accelerator

The accelerator, which will identify and support innovative profit-driven housing startups, to address challenges of low-income households, material suppliers and developers, is expected to pick its first batch of projects by next month. In addition to seed funding of up to Rs 75 lakh, it will also offer startups mentoring, access to global networks and the possibility of investment.
“The first phase of applications is open till October 30. After it closes, a cohort of four or five startups with deliverables will be selected for acceleration. We see potential in the area and the partnership with Habitat for Humanity will only boost it further,” said a CIIE official.
Four-day Red Bricks Summit ends, IIM-A wins QGLP contest
Ahmedabad: With a slew of talks, seminars and events over four days, the Red Brick Summit, the management conclave of IIM Ahmedabad, ended on Tuesday. The speakers on Tuesday included Sangeeta Talwar, Medha Patkar, Anshu Gupta, Riyaaz Amlani and Biswapati Sarkar.
The finals of the second edition of Think Equity Think QGLP Contest took place and the three-member team from IIM Ahmedabad won the Rs 5 lakh prize. The contest, encouraging student teams to pick the best equity investment, was attended by the majority of IIMs and premier B-schools. Raamdeo Agrawal, co-founder of Motilal Oswal Financial Services Ltd, the organizers of the event, said that this year participation had increased and of 65 teams, 10 had made the finals.
“We were happy about their awareness about the equities and we also talked about how they can build a career in the field where their expertise can be applied anywhere, in any state or even across the globe,” he said.
The day was also marked by the ‘A day at IIM-A’ initiative where people got the chance to explore life at IIM Ahmedabad, attend classes and interact with students.
