Ahmedabad: Two men allegedly snatched away the gold chain of a 61-year-old female tourist from Vellore in Tamil Nadu when she was visiting Akshardham Temple in Gandhinagar.
Filing a complaint with Sector 21 police on Thursday, she said her chain was worth Rs 1.5 lakh.
K Saraswati Vyankateshwar, a resident of Stuartpet on HK Kuppuswami Street in Vellore, told police that she and nearly 70 tourists were on an all-India tour and had landed at Akshardham temple in Sector 20 on September 22.
In her complaint, she stated, “Three other passengers and I were walking past the VIP parking gate when a man snatched my gold chain and escaped with another man who was riding a motorcycle.”
Vyankateshwar said that she gave chase but could not catch them. She told police that the two men had a slim build and were aged around 25.
She later approached Sector-21 police and filed a complaint of chain-snatching and abetment against the two motorcycle-borne men.
