Ahmedabad: A businessman from Chandkheda lost Rs 2.8 lakh cash after an unknown person stole it from his parked scooter on Saturday evening. Niranjan Sharma, 28, a resident of Tejendranagar Society, Chandkheda, lodged a complaint with Sola police. He stated that he works with his father at their rubber tube manufacturing business in Kathwada.
On Saturday evening, Sharma went to PM Angadia firm near Vikram Plaza, Chandlodia Bridge, to collect Rs 2.8 lakh cash sent by a customer from Madhya Pradesh. After collecting the cash around 6pm, he placed the amount in the storage compartment of his scooter and started for his home.
On the way, he stopped near a tea stall close to Nayara Petrol Pump in Sola to drink water. He parked his scooter nearby and went to a pan shop. After about 15 minutes, when he returned, he noticed the scooter's storage compartment was open and the cash was missing.
Realising the theft, Sharma immediately contacted the police control room. A Sola police team reached the spot for inspection. Sola police registered a case of theft under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against an unknown person.
