AHMEDABAD: A day after he was caught by the SHE team of Vastrapur police, the accused in a molestation case was granted bail by a local court on Wednesday.
Two days after he groped a 27-year-old woman doctor when she was cycling on a Sunday morning near Judges’ Bungalows Crossroads in Bodakdev, the city police arrested the accused Ankit Soni, 29, when he went to deliver milk at a flat near Vastrapur lake on Tuesday morning.
An official of Vastrapur police said that they produced the accused before the local court. He was released on bail as the offence was non-cognizable.
The cops had claimed that Soni was an accused in a cellphone snatching case and he was identified by a SHE team member when coming out of an apartment in Vastrapur after delivering milk and vegetables.
Soni was arrested after the woman alleged in her FIR that she was cycling between Judges Bungalows’ and NFD Circle when the accused came closer to her and groped her. The Vastrapur police said that Soni used to molest women in garb of asking address.
The cops could not get a clear CCTV footage or any witnesses against the accused. City police commissioner Ashish Bhatia met the SHE team members and congratulated them for nabbing the accused.
