AHMEDABAD: A speeding car hit a scooter near Swastik crossroads on CG Road early on Friday morning, injuring the two youths riding the vehicle. Navrangpura police have arrested the car driver for rash driving. The two youths have been admitted to VS Hospital for treatment of their injuries.
Navrangpura police said Manish Vaghela, 22, a resident of Prem Darwaja in Madhavpura, works with an online delivery firm in the night shift.
On Friday, he along with his friend Hitesh Hadiyal, 17, had come to CG Road on his scooter to have early morning snacks and tea. As they were travelling by Sthanakvasi Jain Chhatralaya on CG Road on their scooter at 5 am, a car hit them from behind. “The car was speeding when it hit the scooter and they fell down on the road. The car skidded sharply, hit the railing on the divider, damaged a streetlight and then got stuck in the broken railing,” said a Navrangpura police official.
RV Desai, inspector of Navrangpura police station, said that the car driver was identified as Harsh Patel, 23, a resident of Radhekrishna Society, Naranpura. “He is doing his LLB and also deals in used cars,” said Desai. “He said he had recently got the BMW from a person for sale. He was detained and later arrested.”
