Lok Sabha Elections: BJP, Congress start candidate screening in Gujarat

BJP vice-president said, “The party has appointed three observer for all 26 seats. They will visit their respective constituencies during March 14 to 16 to take feedbacks from local party workers and choose names of probable candidates. After this, the party’s State Parliamentary Board will discuss and review each seat during March 17 to 19 in the State Parliamentary Board meeting.” Jadeja added, “The party will prepare a list of a panel of candidates on each seat and send it to the central parliamentary board. It is expected that the candidates will be announced in the first week of April.’’

Manish Doshi, spokesperson for Gujarat Congress said, “The party had started screening process for likely candidates long ago and in places where we declared candidates on four such seats where there were only one or two names. Our Lok Sabha seat and district-wise consultation process for candidates is about to end.” Doshi added, “The state party president and leader of opposition (LOP) will visit Delhi on March 14-15 to further discuss the suggested names of candidates. The panel will be discussed shortly. Within a week we expect to announce around 10 to 15 more candidates.’’
