The deceased, Vishal Parmar (19), was a resident of Shahpur. Police officials said Parmar’s friend, Divyang Ravat (22), a resident of Dariyapur, was speeding when the accident occurred.

According to the FIR, Parmar, Ravat and eight others gathered to celebrate the birthday of a friend, Rohit Thakor, at a tea-stall near the Indian Institute of Management in

Vastrapur

on Friday night. After that, they decided to go for a bike ride in the city.

“Ravat borrowed a friend’s motorcycle and asked Parmar to ride pillion. The friends drove towards Ranip bus stand. When Ravat tried to overtake the others and started driving fast, the vehicle got unbalanced and hit a electric pole on the road divider,” reads the FIR filed by Rohit Ravat, one of the friends.

“Ravat and Parmar suffered severe injuries, we called 108 emergency service and an ambulance took them to Asarwa Civil Hospital. Doctors there declared Parmar dead after trying to save him for a while.

Ravat was shifted to VS Hospital on Saturday, where he died on Saturday, the FIR reads.

Police lodged a complaint of culpable homicide and rash driving in the case.
