AHMEDABAD: The city crime branch officers on Sunday arrested two accused allegedly involved in a robbery case where a jeweller from Ahmedabad was robbed of Rs 1.2 crore at gun point near Zanor village of Bharuch on Friday.

According to the city crime branch, the accused identified as Dev Nagar, 22, a resident of Dhal ni Pol in Astodia, and his accomplice Manoj Sonwane from Nashik were arrested in Danilimda.

Police have recovered articles worth Rs 1.07 crore from Nagar and Sonwane.

Crime branch officers said that Nagar had contacted the mastermind of the robbery Nirav Shah from Mumbai around six months ago when he went to Mumbai.

Shah had allegedly told him to conduct recce of a jeweller and rob him.

Cops said that Nagar had a huge debt on him which forced him to rob the jeweller named Mukesh Soni from Isanpur.

The incident took place when Soni was returning to Zanor after delivering ornaments at Dahej, Jolva, and Mohammadpura villages in Bharuch.

When he reached near Zanor, one car overtook his vehicle and he had to stop. As soon as he stopped the car, five persons came out from the two cars and looted 2kg of gold ornaments and cash. Earlier, the Bharuch police had arrested Sunny Patel, Karan Patel and Pradip Vagh in the case.
