AHMEDABAD: City crime branch on Wednesday arrested Bharat Patel, resident of Gota for acting as a middleman to sell off two barrels of Methyl alcohol to main accused of Mumbai Hooch tragedy Atik Khan who arrested by Mumbai police from Delhi in June 2015.
It is noteworthy that Mumbai police earlier this week has nabbed Subhash Giri, an accused of 2009 Ahmedabad Hooch tragedy accused who was out on bail.

Police sources said Giri was out on bail and helped Bharat Patel is selling off Methyl alcohol to Mumbai hooch tragedy accused.
According to crime branch sources they on a tip off arrested Bharat Patel from Gota area of the city on Wednesday afternoon.
During Primary interrogation of the accused it came to light, one Santosh Tomar of Ahmedabad wanted to sell of two barrels of methyl chemical and hence contacted Bharat Patel through Subhash Giri.
Bharat Patel, who runs a screen printing press and often deals as middleman to sell of unbilled chemical stock contacted some of the accused related to Mumbai Hooch tragedy and managed to sell off the stock.
“Patel was on the run once he came to knew about the tragedy. Earlier Mumbai police too had come to Ahmedabad to trace him” said Assistant Commissioner of Police, crime branch KN Patel.
Over 120 persons died in Laxminagar slum areas of Malvani in Mumbai after they consumed spurious liquor in June 2015. Maharashtra Government had ordered an inquiry into the incident and has also suspended a few police officers for negligence.
