AHMEDABAD: As India prepares to take on Sri Lanka in the 2011 ICC World Cup final, superstitious Amdavadis have got their hopes up. A look at the 1983 calendar reveals an uncanny coincidence. In 1983, the World Cup final was held on June 25, a Saturday. Coincidentally, the 2011 World Cup final is also slated for Saturday. This has got cricket fans in the city hopeful that India will emerge a winner like in 1983, when it played against West Indies.
However, city numerologists predict that the numbers are more favorable for team Sri Lanka and its captain Kumar Sangakkara.
"The domination of number four and seven at the match will give unexpected result, and these numbers favour a peninsular country like Sri Lanka. Although Dhoni's destiny number is seven, the same as that of India, stars are more favourable for Sangakkara, whose destiny number is six. Also, it seems like it won't be a one-sided match but rather an interesting battle between the two teams," said numerologist Krishna Shah.
