AHMEDABAD: A 38-year-old bank employee,
Manoj Jayantilal Patel
, on Wednesday evening committed suicide by jumping in front of a running train near
Manipur railway crossing in Bopal, said police.
Patel, a resident of Manipur and native of Mandal in Ahmedabad district, was working in
Ahmedabad District
Cooperative (ADC) bank to facilitate farm loans in
Bavla taluka
. He had left his house on Wednesday without informing the family and took the extreme step.
Investigating officer and police inspector of Mandal, Anshuman Ninama, said that the body was spotted by a railway police constable after which Patel’s body was recovered and sent for post-mortem.
Reasons behind suicide were not yet ascertained as the grieving family members were holding last rituals of Patel, said Ninama.
