AHMEDABAD: Stories are many, and so are memories. Every visit to their alma mater is a trip down the memory lane for the students who once stepped out of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) as youth, ready to take on the world.
IIM-A is all set to celebrate its golden jubilee in 2011. With preparations for the mega event already on, the institute has called upon the alumni to contribute once again.

This time, not for corporate tie-up or for donations, but for contributing their memories.
As a part of the golden jubilee celebration, the IIM-A has decided to produce a coffee table book on the 50 years of the institute. In this new initiative, IIM-A has asked its alumni to post all that they can remember of the institutes, their experiences and memories on a website. What better way to celebrate the 50 years of the institute in the words of the ones who made IIM-A, IIM-A.
A letter posted on the website of the IIM-A alumni says, "The idea is to capture the essence of the IIM-A ethos along with the diversity and the richness of IIM-A experience through pictures, anecdotes, and brief but vivid narration. We have started preliminary work, gathered a lot of pictures from the IIM-A database, and have identified some themes that cover the multi-faceted personality of our institute. We earnestly invite your participation to enhance the richness and flavour of this book".
A committee of three senior professors -- MM Monippally, Rakesh Basant and Sunil Handa -- has been constituted for the purpose of bringing out the coffee table book, with Monippally as the editor.
The alumni has been asked to contribute any old photos, anecdotes, experiences that will bring out the uniqueness or weirdness of IIMA. Professor Monippally said, "This will be a multi-faceted book which will be visual-heavy. The book will talk about the story of this apex institute and about the institute's contribution to management education through photographs. Though the institute already has a big data base of pictures and material that we have already collected, the contribution from the alumni have been invited."
