Ahmedabad: Teen, minor held in Shilaj bungalow burglary; Rs 5.2 lakh recovered
Ahmedabad: Bopal police on Saturday arrested a 19-year-old youth and detained a minor for their alleged role in a burglary at a bungalow in the Shilaj area of the city. Police recovered valuables worth around Rs 5.2 lakh from them.
The case was registered at Bopal police station on Thursday. Investigators said the theft took place on June 3 between 8am and 10.30am at a bungalow in Swagat Bagan Villa on Shilaj-Rancharda Road.
The complainant, Sujit Shah, 55, said he had left home for work in the morning and returned around 2.30pm for lunch. His wife reportedly told him that the domestic help had come around 8am and left by about 10.30am. Suspecting something amiss, Shah checked a bedroom upstairs and discovered that the locker from the cupboard was missing.
The complaint mentioned that the locker contained Rs 1.1 lakh in cash, a gold bangle worth about Rs 2 lakh, five silver coins valued at nearly Rs 10,000, passports of Shah, his wife Kinjal and daughter Bhavya, and a cheque book of The Ahmedabad Mercantile Co-operative Bank.
Based on inputs from human intelligence, police rounded up two suspects identified as Jayesh Damor, 19, a native of Dungarpur, and a minor for their alleged involvement in the burglary. The cops recovered Rs 5.2 lakh from them. Police said another accused, Dhanraj Khant, also from Dungarpur, is absconding.
