Ahmedabad: Senior citizen held for molesting 11-year-old girl

Ahmedabad: A senior citizen was detained by city police on Friday after an 11-year-old girl was allegedly molested. The girl’s mother had approached the Abhayam 181 women helpline.“The caller informed us that her daughter was profusely crying after being molested. A team immediately reached the residence along with a police team. The girl was counselled and questioned, when she told us she had gone to a nearby shop to buy some snacks in the afternoon. While returning home, a man aged around 70 years called her,” said a counsellor.The man allegedly pulled the girl inside his house and molested her. As the man’s relative arrived home, he immediately sent the girl out. When the girl’s angry family members approached him, the house was found locked.“Some nearby residents also informed the team that the man used to touch women inappropriately. The accused was traced and taken to the police station. As the girl’s father has filed an FIR, the man was detained in a case registered under POCSO,” said a counsellor.
