Ahmedabad sees gusty winds, cloudy sky as weather systems become active

Ahmedabad: Another spell of changing weather conditions was seen in Ahmedabad on Tuesday as strong winds and cloudy skies swept across the city following the onset of a Western Disturbance. Several parts of Gujarat also reported light rain and thundershowers.In areas like the Sabarmati Riverfront, commuters faced strong gusts during the day. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), multiple weather systems were active, including a Western Disturbance over northeast Pakistan and adjoining Afghanistan, along with cyclonic circulations over central Pakistan and northeast Rajasthan.The city recorded a maximum temperature of 36.6°C, which was 2.4 degrees below normal, while the minimum temperature was 24.5°C, 1.3 degrees above normal. The IMD has forecast that the maximum temperature on Wednesday was likely to be around 37°C.Across the state, there is not expected to be any major change in maximum temperatures over the next 48 hours. After that, temperatures may gradually rise by 2°C to 4°C. Between April 11 and 13, coastal areas of Gujarat are likely to experience hot and humid conditions.Rainfall was reported in several parts of the state on Tuesday. Sathamba in Aravalli district received 30 mm of rain till 6 pm, followed by 26 mm in Mansa (Gandhinagar), 23 mm in Himmatnagar (Sabarkantha), and 18 mm each in Vijapur (Mehsana) and Talod (Sabarkantha). Overall, 37 talukas recorded 1 mm or more rainfall, mainly in central and north Gujarat, according to the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC).Among major cities, Amreli recorded the highest maximum temperature at 36.7°C, followed closely by Ahmedabad at 36.6°C, Rajkot at 36.5°C, and Gandhinagar at 35.4°C.
