Ahmedabad reports five suicide cases in two days
Ahmedabad: The city reported five suicide cases from different localities over the past two days, with police registering accidental death cases and initiating investigations into the circumstances behind each incident.In Shahpur, Siddharth Datania (24), a resident of Nagoriwad near Krishna Chowk, allegedly died by suicide at his residence between Thursday and Saturday. Police said he was found hanging at his house on Saturday when a family member came to check on him after two days. Shahpur police registered an accidental death case and began an inquiry.In another incident, Asma Byawarwala (37), a resident of Jamalpur, allegedly hanged herself from a ceiling fan at her residence on Saturday evening. Family members rushed her to LG Hospital where doctors declared her dead. Gaekwad Haveli police initiated an investigation.In Gomtipur, Jay Suryavanshi (27), a resident of Rajpur Gomtipur, allegedly died by suicide on Saturday afternoon after hanging himself with a dupatta tied to a ceiling fan inside his home. A head constable is probing the case.A minor girl from Meghaninagar’s Gujarat Housing Board area also allegedly died by suicide on Friday afternoon.
Police said she used a saree to hang herself at her residence. She was taken to Civil Hospital in Asarwa where doctors declared her dead.In Khokhra, Kanaiyalal Varesa (57), a resident of Navnirman Division-2, allegedly died after jumping from the terrace staircase area of his residential block on Friday morning. Khokhra police registered an accidental death case and further investigation is underway.Police officials said the exact reasons behind the deaths are yet to be ascertained in all five cases.
