Ahmedabad police chief sidelined

ahmedabad: stray incidents of violence claimed three more lives in the city, even as the state director-general of police (dgp) k chakravarthy took over the work of ahmedabad’s police commissioner, p c pande. though pande still continues in his position, the dgp began sitting in the office of the commisioner since tuesday late evening. the development took place barely a few hours after the commissioner’s office was encircled by an armed mob on tuesday.the mob went on a rampage as pande sat passively in his office. on wednesday, a mob again went on rampage and indulged in stone-throwing in the devjipura area where the dariakhan ghummat relief camp is located. more arson was reported from the barfiwala bhavan area in khanpur.
