AHMEDABAD: A 24-year-old woman from Chandkheda on Friday filed a police complaint alleging that her brother, Dhruval Vaghela, and three cousins, Siddhrajsinh, Dharmik and Sameer, attacked her husband and brother-in-law over their inter-caste marriage.

Parvati Patel, in her FIR at Chandkheda police station, said she married to a man from Chandkheda, Tushar Patel, in 2017. As she comes from the Darbar community and her husband is a Patel, her family members, especially her brother and father, opposed their wedding.

On August 29, Dhruval and Siddhrajsinh stopped Tushar when he was going to his shop and slapped him.

Her brother and cousins then called her brother-in-law, Ajay Patel, to a temple where they attacked him. When Tushar and Parvati went to the spot , her brother and cousins hit Ajay and Tushar with sticks, causing them head injuries.
