540+ take organ donation pledge

Ahmedabad: The staff of city-based KD Hospital celebrated the International Women’s Day with a message. Ahead of March 8, over 540 employees of the hospital – led by women – including doctors, nurses, paramedical staff and other staff members took a pledge to donate their organs. A human chain was formed outside the hospital on Saturday evening to spread the message.

Dr Parth Desai, COO of the hospital, said that the purpose behind the event was to create awareness about the acute shortage of cadaver organ donation in India. “All of us can be organ donors with a pledge. We are happy that the women’s team took the lead to spread awareness,” he said.
