37 IPS officers transferred across key posts in Gujarat

AHMEDABAD: In a major bureaucratic reshuffle aimed at strengthening policing and administrative efficiency, the Gujarat govt on Thursday transferred 37 IPS officers across the state. The changes span key departments, including intelligence, crime investigation, cybersecurity, anti-corruption, and range-level policing. Among the most prominent postings, senior officer Shamsher Singh was appointed director of Civil Defence and commandant general of Home Guards in Ahmedabad. He will superannuate this month.

According to the notification issued by the home department late Thursday night, Ashok Kumar Yadav, who was serving as inspector general of police (IGP) of Rajkot range, was transferred and appointed as IGP, CID (intelligence), Gandhinagar. Govt downgraded a vacant additional director general of police post to accommodate the posting.

Senior officer Nirlipt Rai has been appointed as the new IGP of the Rajkot range. Rai, was earlier with the state monitoring cell (SMC) in Gandhinagar.


Another key move saw Gagandeep Gambhir, currently IGP (administration) in Gandhinagar, being given the additional charge of the state monitoring cell. Meanwhile, Gautam Parmar, who was heading Bhavnagar range, was appointed IGP, CID (crime) in Gandhinagar.

In field-level changes, Raghavendra Vatsa, who served as joint commissioner of police (crime) in Surat city, was appointed IGP of Ahmedabad range. Nilesh Jajadia, IGP of Junagadh range, was moved to Vadodara city as joint commissioner of police (crime and law & order).

The reshuffle also touched specialized units. Bipin Ahire, additional director of the Anti-Corruption Bureau in Ahmedabad, was appointed IGP of the Cyber Centre of Excellence in Gandhinagar. According to the notification, P L Mal will take charge as the additional director of ACB.

Further changes include N N Chaudhari being appointed IGP (intelligence-2) in Gandhinagar, and A G Chauhan replacing him as the joint commissioner of police (traffic) in Ahmedabad. R V Asari was appointed the new IGP of Bhavnagar range.

Senior officials said the reshuffle also involved promotions and structural changes, including upgrading and downgrading several posts across departments such as CID, cyber policing, intelligence, and anti-corruption units.
