AHMEDABAD: They take jobs only at posh areas, do the duty diligently for a while and then strike with precision. A team of Ahmedabad rural police's local crime branch (LCB) arrested two for stealing valuables worth Rs 4.33 lakh from folk singer Farida Mir's residence at Sterling City in Bopal in August last year.
The thieves have confessed that they have been caught earlier for thefts from posh bungalows and apartments including once for stealing valuables from residence of
Hema Malini in Mumbai.
Mir had registered a case of theft from her residence where somebody had broken into her house between August 18 and 22, when she was away and had stolen gold ornaments, cash and US dollars. At that time, the police officials had noticed that a watchman and a domestic help were missing from the colony.
"We identified them as Umesh Bahadur Shahi, 34, and Dhanbahadur Manbahadur, 22, both natives of Nepal. They used to take posts of watchmen and errands men for the wealthy and get idea about goods and security system in place before striking, " said A Y Baloch, sub-inspector of LCB.
