AHMEDABAD: A team of Kalupur police have caught a father-son duo in connection with the disappearance of gold worth Rs 63.4 lakh. The accused have said that the gold was stolen near Pune. According to the Kalupur police, Gaurang Soni, a resident of Rath Rajeshwar Flats, Paldi, had registered a complaint against Shirish Soni and his sons Tejas and Rupesh, all residents of Chintan Park, Vasna, for cheating.
According to the complaint, six jewellers had given gold to Shirish Soni and one of his sons in September for preparing gold ornaments. The accused have a shop at Sheth ni Pol.
The goldsmiths purloined the stock, the jewelers allege. The investigators said that Shirish Soni had approached Maninagar police with an application of complaint earlier for intimidation leading to attempted suicide. He had consumed pesticide and was admitted to a hospital, following repeated calls from the jewellers involved.
