AHMEDABAD: On Tuesday, 64 candidates including 16 candidates from the BJP and six from the Congress submitted their nominations to the district collector and panchayat offices to contest the state assembly election. These candidates filed nominations for 14 of the 21 constituencies in Ahmedabad district. There are 16 constituencies in Ahmedabad city and five in rural Ahmedabad. Some Aam Aadmi Party candidates also filed their nominations.
Congress candidate Dharmesh Patel filed his papers for Amraiwadi, while Gyasuddin Shaikh did so for Dariapur. The BJP candidate from Ellisbridge, Amit Shah, was accompanied by Gordhan Zadaphia at the collector’s office. Hardik Patel filed his papers for Viramgam while Jagdish Vishwakarma did so for Nikol. tnn
