10 caught gambling on moving bus

Ahmedabad: Viramgam town police on Sunday night caught ten men from Bopal at Rahemalpur Crossroads on the Viramgam-Malvan highway for allegedly gambling aboard a bus going from Sanand to Kutch.
According to the FIR filed at Viramgam town police station, police received a tip-off that some men were playing poker inside a bus travelling from Sanand to Lakhpat.
A Viramgam town police team waited at Rahemalpur Crossroads in Viramgam town and stopped the bus. They found ten men sitting in the rear seats of the bus playing poker, which involved betting in cash.
A police officer said there were 29 passengers, who belong to a single community and one area, aboard the bus. They were on a pilgrimage to Mata no Madh in Lakhpat.
“Ten passengers had started gambling in the back seats. When the police team entered the bus, the ten men from Bopal were gambling inside it,” said a police officer.
Police seized Rs 2.40 lakh in cash and ten mobile phones worth Rs 2.75 lakh from the accused persons.
Viramgam town police registered a complaint under the Gambling Act against the ten accused — Ankit Patel, Chintan Patel, Yagnesh Patel, Umang Patel, Parth Patel, Hemant Patel, Jigar Patel, Sachin Patel, Lakshit Patel and Maulik Patel, all residents of from Bopal — and began an investigation.
