on Monday. They demanded justice for the

Unnao

rape victim who was burnt alive by her alleged rapists. They also claimed that women in the state were not safe under the Yogi government.

The protestors who shouted slogans against the government also made an unsuccessful attempt to burn an effigy of CM Yogi Adityanath but were overpowered by the police.

The protest march was led by state youth Congress general secretary Kunwar Gaurang Dev Chauhan and district president Kapil Sharma.

Talking to media, Chauhan said that rape incidents have increased since the Yogi government came to power. “Women are not safe in the state. They have failed to provide safety to women,” he said and added that rape cases are being reported every second day from different parts of the state.

He alleged that the Yogi government was also suppressing the voice of the people and was gagging anyone who said or raised slogans against it. Chauhan said that many workers were injured by the police when they tried to burn an effigy of the CM.

He said, “Such a practice can’t stop us from raising our voices against the wrongdoings of the government.”
