Women stage anti-war protest in UP's Muzaffarnagar, condemn attacks on civilian spaces
Over 100 women in Muzaffarnagar protested rising Iran-US tensions, advocating for global peace and urging restraint.
AGRA: Over 100 women gathered at the Muzaffarnagar district court premises on Saturday to protest rising tensions between Iran and the United States in West Asia, urging restraint and a push for global peace. Carrying placards reading “No War, We Want Peace” and raising slogans against conflict, the demonstrators voiced concern over the humanitarian toll of escalating hostilities. The protest was led by Shanti Sena president Munesh Gupta, who underlined the disproportionate impact of war on marginalised communities. She said, "Conflicts often result in the loss of innocent lives, especially women and children, leaving families shattered.” Gupta further alleged that global powers often engage in conflicts driven by economic and strategic interests, with weaker nations bearing the brunt. Protesters also condemned strikes on schools, colleges and hospitals, calling such acts inhumane and unacceptable. The gathering concluded with a brief prayer for victims of violence, along with an appeal to the Govt of India to remain neutral and work towards fostering peace.
