MATHURA: Vrindavan's Thakur Bankebihari Temple appealed to visitors to "dress modestly" and refrain from wearing "indecent clothes" in the temple premises.
The request was made given the expected rush to the temple ahead of the New Year. "... attire such as mini skirts, torn jeans, half pants, and night suits is inappropriate for the temple setting, as it undermines its sanctity and dignity," the temple authorities said.
The appeal was made on media channels and banners in the city. Temple manager Munish Sharma said it aimed to "preserve cultural dignity" of temple.
