Agra: A 28-year-old truck driver carrying goods from Gurgaon for Bengaluru was mercilessly beaten with iron rods and left to die by unidentified car occupants after he allegedly brushed past their vehicle near Jaigurudev Ashram on the Agra-Mathura highway in UP. A video of the brutal assault filmed by bystanders was widely shared online, triggering public outrage.Police said the incident took place under Mathura's Highway thana on Tuesday, when truck driver Anoop Yadav, 28, from Etah's Kunjalpur village, was en route to Karnataka. Critically hurt, Yadav was taken by his helper to hospital where he died.After the "minor collision", the car's occupants overtook the heavy vehicle, forced it to stop and targeted the driver. He was repeatedly hit on the limbs, police said, adding that a few motorists tried to intervene but the attackers refused to relent.An FIR was registered under BNS section 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder). In the purported video, a truck driver can be seen pleading and crying out for help as he is being beaten by a few men on the highway.DSP Anil Kaprwan on Thursday said teams were examining CCTV footage and the video to identify and nab the attackers. SSP (Mathura) Shlok Kumar added, "After initial medical attention when the truck driver came out of the hospital, he collapsed and died. Police were informed about it the next day."
